J.M. GARLITOS

Jona Mae Garlitos is a 34 year old writer and mother of 6. She has been writing fiction (with an emphasis on the horror genre), poetry, and blog pieces for about 18 years.

The love for the written word was instilled in her as a young girl as well as the knack for scary storytelling. As she grew into a teenager, the lighthearted storytelling grew a bit darker as her love for the macabre was introduced. She was inspired and enthralled by the genius of Anne Rice and started weaving morbid intricate details into her story writing.

Due to many years of writer's block, Jona veered off of her usual genre and dabbled in comedic blog posts. She tried in vain throughout those years to write a horror fiction piece, however every time, she ended up scrapping the ideas, finding herself either blocked from finishing or just unhappy with the story itself.

Finally in 2016 she started writing again. Sitting outside her home, relaxing for the day, the smell of honeysuckles wafted through the breeze and the scent inspired her to write her first short story piece in over a decade. Not being able to explain it anymore than "It just hit me. And I started typing furiously, afraid that the inspiration would leave just as quickly as it came."

Thus "Honeysuckles" was created. But she wanted something darker, to go back to where her natural writing ability was at it's best: Horror.

When she is not writing, Jona is also a licensed Real Estate Agent in the state of California. She loves spending time with her children and having fun, cooking,  reading, and volunteering at the different non-profit organizations she supports.
